Anchor is Out Now.  You can order the 'Home silk-screened limited edition colored vinyl LP w/DL code' in our webstore.

We apologize for the quietness this year... one of my sons has had cancer (for the third time) and he's been going through some very harsh treatments for the last 6 months.  He's a tough kid and the prognosis is good but it's knocked us out this year.  Thanks for your endless and beautiful support through all of this.  We couldn't do it without you.

Nick, You should add a 'Donate' option to this site. I don't earn a lot of money myself but I'd gladly drop you a little here and there when I can in order to support your music creations, maybe others would too? Ubik

Love the music. I listen to a lot of music but the books is my favorite. I just started listening to your side project and I'm really amazed! Keep on keep'n on! I was just out in North Adams at Mass Moca and Hiking Mount Greylock. We were listening to the Books the entire time. Fits nicely with the area. Northampton as well. Your VT home and studio look like a great place to pull influence. All the best, Wooli

Hi Nick. I really think your website could use an RSS subscribe button. That way, all new updates can go straight to my reader, so I can get your great music as soon as it's on the site! But don't let this distract you from making great music!

I second Joshua's comment, I would love to see your studio set up. I'd also be really interested in the recording/ engineering techniques that went into your previous albums, particularly Thought for Food & The Lemon Of Pink. No matter how many times I listen to them I am always blown away. What kind of Instruments & mics were used? What mic positions were used on the instruments? Was any other hardware used or was it all done 'in the box' using plugins? How the hell did you learn to do this all by yourself!! It really is incredible. P.S. Loved 'YAY' and all the soundtracks on Soundcloud - although you've kind of ruined music for me now because everything else seems to pale in comparison.

Would really love to see some photos of your studio setup; currently trying to plan out my own space. Wish I had the same space to work with though! xo

What a great thing to come home to! YAY is a great title for the track, it's got such a jubilant vibe to it. Loving the project so far, Nick! Will spread the word like wildfire. All the best! :)

Wowww just got the new track! It's like a visit to some quirky ecstatic saints'side chapel in the Sonic Cathedral of Joy! Thanks so much, although it's now 2 in the morning and after listening to that three times the last thing I want to do is go to bed! If only I had some stars to look at but all is mist and fog here. I'll stare at the flames in the woodstove and bless the day I found The Books... (thanks NPR!)

We went to see you guys in February 2011 in Melbourne at the Thornbury Theatre and it was so uplifting. You told us you were going surfing at Bells Beach..that was brave..it was cold! You also told us that Food for Thought was your 'bastard child'so we bought it, and it's my favourite! (esp. enjoy your worries). We have a shop in Melbourne and your CD's are frequently on rotation. Just wanted to thank you because your music is theatrical and funny (funny in a good way)and we love it. Hope you come back soon.
